Ordering Flower Tips
- Check and double-check the recipient's delivery information. This includes the address where you'd like the flowers delivered, as well as the phone number.
- Make sure to plan for your flower delivery well in advance of special holidays. Peak holidays for florists include Valentine's Day, Mothers' Day, Christmas and Easter.
- Do a little research to find out if the flowers you've selected are in season. If you order two dozen tulips, sent to two different addresses, and tulips are out of season, your order may be delayed for the time it takes to contact you for a substitution.
- Don't get too caught up in what the message of individual flower types or colors mean. Everyone loves to receive flowers, and most people don't think twice about hidden messages.
Cut Flower Tips
- Keep your flowers in a cool place until you can get them in water with the flower food supplied.
- Make sure vases are cleaned thoroughly before use. Wash with a detergent or antibacterial cleaning solution
- Use fresh lukewarm water with the cut flower food added as supplied with your bouquet.
- Strip all leaves that are below the water level.
- Take at least 3cm (1") off the stems, making a slanted cut with sharp scissors.
- Avoid direct sunlight, heat, or drafts.
- Keep flowers as far away from fruit as possible and remove faded flowers as they occur.
- Top up the water regularly and add flower food in proportion.
